RUPTURE & DELIBERATE PIXELATION

Two collections showed at Alta Roma fashion week S/S 2007. In Rupture repetitive slashes in leather lead to open worked structures. Besides it’s decorative reference to lace the slashes are a means of construction, they shape the garment by replacing darts and seams. A second abstract reference to lace is the laser cut flat dot pattern with a 3D suggestion. All designs are based on classics such as the slip-on, lady’s suit, pencil skirt and raglan jumper.

The Deliberate Pixelation collection results from digital drawings and manipulated photographs. The drawings are transformed into knit structures and with the choice of specific yarn the characteristics of each design is emphasized. Like elastic yarn is used to create flexible volumes, waistlines and a special finishing. Open-worked knits in a fine cotton yarn play with visibility of the skin like lace does and add a fragile femininity to the overall minimalistic designs.
